Women of promise by TELUS and the Vancouver Board of Trade
February 15, 2014 was a day of great news! I was a great pleasure to find a message in my inbox that read:
“Hello Karina,
I am delighted to inform you that you have been selected Woman of Promise by TELUS and the Vancouver Board of Trade’s Women’s Leadership Circle (WLC) Program. You have been selected based on your outstanding community contributions reflected in your commitment to give where you live and your efforts to elevate women by recognizing the importance of diversity in leadership roles.”

As a “Woman of Promise” recipient, I will be attending the Vancouver Board of Trade -WLC – Hillary Rodham Clinton event on Wednesday, March 5th at the Queen Elizabeth Theater. I have also been invited to attend a pre-event reception at the Westin Grand Hotel where a formal recognition will take place with the opportunity to meet members of the Women Leadership Circle Advisory Council.
I have been involved with women supporting women in trades via the Canadian Construction Women and the Mexican’s Abroad Advisory Council for the last couple of years, I am glad there is something I could contribute to the community I live in. I immigrated (from Mexico) to a friendly community (in Vancouver, BC) where all I have always had is support and encouragement. It’s my pleasure to give and support organizations, local groups and business that focus on better the lives of their members and the community in general, providing opportunities for mentorship, friendship, community involvement, personal and professional development and at the same time I have received support and gain knowledge and experience that has allowed me to reach my own goals. I look forward to keep contributing to my second home (Vancouver, BC, Canada) and collaborate with so many talented entrepreneurs, groups and organizations.
